Population Projections

National Records of Scotland (NRS) have recently published 2016-based population projections for the years 2016-2041 for Scotland. The projection by NHS Board and Council Area will be published in 2018.

As a result of this, the lookup files in the population projections section have been updated.

2017_1 Postcode to Deprivation Lookups

The postcode to deprivation lookup files in the sections below have been updated based on the 2017_1 NRS Scottish Postcode Directory (SPD):

2017_2 Scottish Postcode Directory (SPD)

National Records of Scotland (NRS) have recently released the 2017_2 Scottish Postcode Directory (SPD).

The files in the Geography sections have been updated.

Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) 2016

In August 2016, the Scottish Government published the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2016 (SIMD 2016).

The ISD population-weighted lookup files are available from the SIMD section.

Mid-Year Population Estimates for 2016 and Corrected 2012-2014

National Records of Scotland (NRS) have recently released the mid-year population estimates for 2016 for Council Area, Health Board and Small Area (DataZone/Intermediate Zone), as well as correcting the years 2012-2014.

As a result of this, the lookup files in the population estimates section have been updated.

Health and Social Care Partnerships/ Integration Authorities

Health ad Social Care Partnerships (officially known as Integration Authorities) are now live, effective from 1st April 2016.

This press release from the Scottish Government contains some further information.

The new geography has been added to the Standard Geography Codes Register for Scotland and will be included on the National Records of Scotland (NRS) Scottish Postcode Directory from the 2016_2 version onwards.

Launch of statistics.gov.scot

The Scottish Government's Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics (SNS) is now no longer available, and has been replaced by the SG's new open data publishing platform statistics.gov.scot.

statistics.gov.scot is a new site for publishing the data behind our official statistics in Scotland; it replaces the previous Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics (SNS) system. You can access data by theme, organisation or geography. You can also search for datasets, places or enter your postcode to find data about your local area. The data can be viewed as tables, maps and charts or downloaded in various formats. You can continue to access a range of small-area statistics as you would through SNS and the SG will be making more data available to you in the coming months.
