Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Data on STIs diagnosed in Scottish genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinics have been continuously collected since 1922. There have been several revisions to the data gathered and the way that this has been collected over that time. In 2009 clinics started a phased transition from recording data on STIs in STISS (Sexually Transmitted Infections Surveillance System) to NaSH (National Sexual Health System) - a clinical management IT system covering sexual health settings in Scotland.

STI data reporting

Due to the change in data recording systems, and in conjunction with our stakeholders, ISD decided that it could no longer publish STI data. Reporting on STIs from laboratory data continues to remain unaffected and is available from Health Protection Scotland.

The previous publications can still be found on the archived ISD website.
