Ophthalmic Services
Ophthalmic services are provided in both the Hospital sector and the Family Health Services sector (General Ophthalmic Services - GOS) of NHS Scotland.
In 2011/12:
- The total expenditure in hospitals was £118.3 million
- Family Health Service expenditure in GOS was £97.8 million

Hospital Sector
Eye care in the hospital sector ranges from complex surgery provided by specialists in Ophthalmology to eye tests and optical dispensing by hospital opticians. For more detailed information on hospital ophthalmic costs and activity, go to:
