ISD holds and maintains a range of data relating to general practices in Scotland. The main areas about which we hold and publish information are:
- Information about the GP workforce and other practice staff
- Information about general practices (GP surgeries) in Scotland and their list sizes (practice populations)
- Estimated numbers of patient consultations in general practices, overall and for specific health conditions. These are available via our GP Consultations pages
- Information from the Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF) of the General Medical Services (GMS contract). This includes information on QOF achievements and payments, and also on numbers of patients included on QOF registers for particular health conditions, with corresponding QOF-reported “prevalence” rates.
We may also be able to help if you are looking for information on general practice that is not already published on our web pages. For example we can often provide information tailored to individual customer requirements (which we do in accordance with ISD’s Information Request protocol). Please contact us if you have a particular request that you would like to discuss with us, or if you are not sure that ISD holds the information that you are looking for.
Latest news
May 2013 - A new version of the QOF publication report for 2011/12 data was released on 07 May 2013. This is to meet requirements identified during a UK Statistics Authority assessment of the QOF publication. The changes are mainly to the commentary and there are no changes to data in the report or on the ISD website. QOF data for 2012/13 are due to be published on 24 September 2013.
March 2013 - Publication of GP consultations for breast symptoms to provide information about the impact of a recent government campaign. See link on the right.
February 2013 - We are currently rewriting the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) publication to include more tables and charts and an enhanced commentary.
February - May 2013 - User Surveys
We are currently carrying out surveys of people who use our data. If you use QOF or GP consultations (PTI) data, we'd really like to know who you are and how you use the data so we can improve our service to you.
