The Unscheduled Care Information programmes (UCIP) role is to provide good quality information and intelligence on unscheduled healthcare services to support the mapping, planning, monitoring and management of these services in NHS Scotland.

During 2011-12 the strategic objectives of the Unscheduled Care Information Programme are:

  • To align the work of the programme with national policy on unscheduled healthcare
  • To coordinate the development of information available on unscheduled healthcare pathways working in partnership with the many organisations involved in providing these services.
  • To maintain and further develop risk prediction tools to support emergency healthcare services planning and management in NHS Scotland.

News and Updates

This section contains news and updates on our most recent development schemes and publications including reports and statistics.

19 December 2012 - Some issues with data quality concerning a number of tables in the Unintentional Injuries report, originally published on 20/12/2011, have recently come to light and while these are being investigated we have taken the precautionary measure of withdrawing this publication from the ISD website. The next release of this publication is scheduled for 26 February 2013. In the meantime if you require information usually contained in this report or have any concerns over data previously published on Unintentional Injuries please contact celina.davis@nhs.net.

Consultation on Emergency Department Activity and Waiting times publication

During September 2012, in response to increased requests for additional information around attendances at Accident and Emergency departments across Scotland, ISD undertook a consultation to improve the existing quarterly Emergency Care publication.

It detailed the proposed changes and additions which ISD thought would meet the needs of our customers. The consultation lasted until 5pm on Friday 19th October 2012. The feedback has been collated and the main points have been outlined in the document below.
