Information Analyst (Band 5)

Data collected by hospitals, GPs and from many other sources across NHS Scotland is sent electronically to ISD for analysis. ISD analysts interpret and present the information, statistics and reports for a range of customers including NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the general public.

Main tasks

  • Analyse and interpret data and datasets
  • Provide statistical advice
  • Promote the work of ISD
  • Produce regular reports for publishing on the web and in print
  • Handle requests for information (including Parliamentary Questions)

Additional tasks

  • Contribute as part of a team to one or more of ISD's major projects
  • Keep informed of developments within statistics

Senior Information Analyst (Band 6)

Data collected by hospitals, GPs and from many other sources across NHS Scotland is sent electronically to ISD for analysis. ISD analysts interpret and present the information, statistics and reports for a range of customers including NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the general public.

Senior Information Analysts support the management of the teams involved in the manipulation, compilation and timely presentation of the information. They also provide advice and guidance on data and analytical matters.

Main Tasks

  • Help scope, analyse and interpret information for projects and audits
  • Contribute to the development of datasets and information systems
  • Analyse and interpret data and datasets
  • Providing statistical advice to customers and ISD staff
  • Promote the work of ISD
  • Produce regular reports for publishing on the web and in print
  • Handle requests for information (including Parliamentary Questions)

Additional Tasks

  • Contribute as part of a team to one or more of ISD's major projects
  • Keep informed of developments within statistics
  • Deputise for the senior analytical staff
  • Supervise and line manage members of the team

Principal Information Analyst (Band 7)

Data collected by hospitals, GPs and from many other sources across NHS Scotland is sent electronically to ISD for analysis. ISD analysts interpret and present the information, statistics and reports for a range of customers including NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the general public.

Principal Information Analysts’ role is to lead and manage multiple teams in the process of producing, developing and promoting ISD information services for a range of customers including NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the general public. Principal Information Analysts also provide statistical and analytical advice and guidance to customers and ISD staff.

Main Tasks

  • Team management
  • Project management
  • Initiate and collaborate on statistical publications
  • Oversee the answering of requests for information (including Parliamentary Questions)
  • Lead the development of projects and audits
  • Providing statistical advice to customers and ISD staff
  • Promote the work of ISD
  • Develop and apply analytical standards
  • Work in the development and deliver business plan
  • Produce regular reports for publishing on the web and in print

Additional Tasks

  • Keep informed and promote developments within statistics
  • Develop and promote best practice
  • Develop new information services to meet customers’ changing needs
