Hints and Tips

The first stage of every selection process requires that you complete an electronic application form via eESS. This allows us to assess each applicant on the basis of their qualifications, experience and personal qualities. Applicants must complete all parts of the relevant application form. The statement in Support of your Application provides you with an opportunity to make yourself stand-out from other applicants. If you have a disability you should tick the Job Interview Guarantee box which will ensure you are invited to interview if you meet the basic post requirements.

If you need any particular assistance to take part in an interview please contact us as soon as you are notified so we can make appropriate arrangements.

Research into the organisation, and an awareness of current health issues would also be useful preparation.

Interview questions will require you to recall real situations that you have experienced. These questions are designed to gain a better understanding of your experiences and, more importantly, your contribution, behaviour and learning from those situations. For some positions you may be required to give a short presentation. Whilst you will be given advance notice of the subject to be covered, the intention is to assess your presentation skills, not necessarily whether you have an in depth knowledge of the subject.

Our interviews are structured to ensure that all applicants are given equal opportunity, and additionally enables us to make objective and accurate selection decisions.

You must bring original documents plus copies of all documents you require to prove who you are, your qualifications and your ability to work in the UK. Documents should include a passport with proof of your entitlement to work in the UK (including visa/work permit if required) and a photo driving licence plus evidence of your current address. If you have only one photo identification document you must provide two different documents with your current address. You must also provide evidence of any relevant qualifications that are referred to in your application.
